The Customer Service - Donor Support Technician is responsible for preparing the donor, donor area, and equipment for the pheresis process. This includes preparing the autopheresis machine, monitoring the donor and the pheresis process, and responding to alarms or signals during the process. The technician will disconnect the donor when the process is complete and maintain alertness to any reactions the donor may have, notifying appropriate staff as necessary. The role also involves using a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to record incidents during the pheresis process, linking equipment to the appropriate donor, and ensuring accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system. The technician must maintain a clean work environment, ensure sufficient operating supplies, and follow all health and safety policies. Bilingual skills may be required to meet business needs.

  • Prepare the donor, donor area, and equipment for the pheresis process.
  • Prepare the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
  • Monitor the donor and the pheresis process, responding to alarms or signals.
  • Disconnect the donor when the process is complete.
  • Maintain alertness to any reactions the donor may have and notify appropriate staff.
  • Record incidents during the pheresis process using a PDA.
  • Link equipment and soft goods used in the pheresis process to the appropriate donor.
  • Alert Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
  • Ensure accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system.
  • Understand policies and procedures associated with hyper immune programs.
  • Maintain a clean and efficient work environment.
  • Follow all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and OSHA policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
  • May be cross-trained in other areas to meet business needs.
  • Perform job-related duties as assigned.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three (3) months' work experience, preferably in a medical or health provider environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to perform basic math calculations.
  • Bilingual skills may be required to meet business needs.
