Quotation Specialist

The Quotation Specialist at South Bay Solutions is a pivotal role responsible for creating and reviewing part costs and manufacturing methods to ensure accuracy in relation to established standards and profitability. This position requires a strong technical background, particularly in a machine shop environment, where the candidate will need to effectively communicate on a technical level with Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing personnel. A deep understanding of machining cycle times, materials, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is essential, as these factors significantly impact cost assessments. In this role, the specialist will determine material requirements, labor costs, and manufacturing operations based on built-to-print parts and blueprints. They will develop cost estimates and quotes tailored to customer requirements and specifications. Collaboration with other departments, including engineering, production, and sales, is crucial to ensure that quotes and cost estimates are both accurate and profitable. The specialist will also engage with suppliers to negotiate competitive pricing and lead times for materials and special outside processes. Maintaining accurate records of cost estimates, quotes, and actual production costs for each job is a key responsibility. The specialist will communicate with customers to address inquiries regarding cost estimates and provide updates on project status and production timelines. Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers is vital to ensure their needs are met and exceeded. Additionally, the specialist will identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements within the CNC machining process, keeping abreast of industry trends and advancements in CNC machining technology to maintain the company's competitive edge. Compliance with company policies, procedures, and relevant safety regulations is also a critical aspect of this role.
