Quarter Horse cowboy is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations which involve horse nutrition, horse care, horse training, advanced reproductive technology for horses, farriering, fitting and grooming horses for sale, showing horses at sales, horse vaccination protocols, and general horse health management. What to Expect in the Role: Assist with halter breaking weanlings, train young horses, trimming horses’ hooves, daily feeding, grooming and fitting horses for sale. Ensure the safe hauling of horses in trailers to sales or other facility in and out of state. Appreciate, and implement the high standards of humane and productive animal husbandry practices. Abide by strict protocols and schedules for feeding and mineral programs, vaccination and processing protocols, sanitary standards, and managing horses according to the protocols outlined in the King Ranch Quarter Horse Program. Understanding the importance of water, minerals, and supplemental feeding programs in maintenance of horse body condition and their effect on fertility and production.
