About The Position

The Quarry Superintendent position has overall responsibility for supervising and supporting all aspects of aggregate production operations. Reporting to the Area Operations Manager, this position is based out of Landisville, PA and is responsible for one aggregates operation producing approximately 350,000 tons annually. This role has full P&L responsibility including developing and adhering to budgets, production planning including quarry development, producing products according to sales forecasts, and leading a team focused on safety and quality.

Requirements

  • Must submit to a drug test and criminal background check.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Able to work various times during day, night or weekend hours, at various locations.
  • High school Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years of experience in the aggregate industry
  • 2 years of leadership

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to and follow all safety rules and regulations of MSHA/OSHA/DOT and Pennsy Supply, Inc.
  • Conduct daily safety assignments (area inspections, pre-shifts, JSA's, TRACK, etc).
  • Reports to Area Manager.
  • Check daily with the plant operator on maintenance issues, obtain maintenance request forms and prioritize and enter into the maintenance program for the quarry operations.
  • Monthly budgetary forecasting.
  • Conduct daily performance and safety meetings.
  • Enter daily production metrics onto white boards or delegate to another member of the team.
  • Review daily production data at shift start meeting, discuss discrepancies on data and possible solutions, mitigate problems. Celebrate the wins.
  • Kickoff production start and daily activities.
  • Entering production information daily.
  • Check employee time sheets and correct hour, coding and equipment usage.
  • Approve time sheets daily as required.
  • Fill in as needed at any position in the quarry operations.
  • Review stripping, drilling and blasting requirements daily, schedule accordingly.
  • Ensure that all employees and contractors on site are following safety policies.
  • Continually improve 5S practices and mindsets.
  • Supervise stockpiling, review piles daily as to what material is needed most.
  • Ensure the plant operators are doing hourly callouts, support this process with plant and loader operators by asking questions and responding to results.
  • Maintain and review dust control procedures within the plant and on the haul roads - mitigate problems as necessary.
  • Review/follow up on daily plant inspections with plant operators.
  • Create new/review current work orders with employees.
  • Review quality control data for daily compliance, interact with Q.C.
  • Troubleshoot and repair plant equipment as required.
  • Purchases parts and keep inventory.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of pit haul roads.
  • Inform employees/plant operators of daily/weekly mode changes.
  • Review quality control data for daily compliance.
  • Be aware of performance metrics and targets: TPH, Tons/Month, % Availability, OEE, STVC, R & M Spend.
  • Perform daily safety and maintenance inspections at the site and plants.
  • Other duties as assigned.
