About The Position

The Quarry Laborer is responsible for general laborer duties at quarry as instructed by the foreman. This includes following all company policies and procedures for safe working procedures and environment, reporting any problems to the Foreperson, Safety Manager, or Human Resources Manager, and performing daily pre-shift inspections followed by submission of a report for any repairs needed. The role requires greasing equipment as needed, making normal operating adjustments to equipment, cleaning and washing vehicles, and displaying a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers and supervisors at all times. Flexibility with schedule changes, location changes, and time of shift changes is required, along with the ability to work overtime. Attendance is required according to company policy to ensure crew efficiency. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures is mandatory, and individuals must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by MSHA. The job also requires the ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently under various working conditions, understand and follow verbal instructions, and communicate effectively.

Requirements

  • High school education or GED preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work independently with attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt and work in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform physical demands such as climbing, bending, lifting, and sitting for extended periods.
  • Ability to use hand tools such as wrenches and screwdrivers.
  • Vision abilities include close, distance peripheral, depth, and the ability to focus.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all company policies and procedures for safe working procedures and environment.
  • Report any problems to the Foreperson, Safety Manager, or Human Resources Manager.
  • Perform daily pre-shift inspections and submit reports for repairs needed.
  • Inspect equipment and safety items at the end of each shift.
  • Grease equipment as needed during pre-shift and at the end of each shift.
  • Make normal operating adjustments to equipment.
  • Clean and wash vehicles.
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers and supervisors.
  • Be flexible with schedule changes, location changes, and time of shift changes.
  • Work overtime as required.
  • Report to the assigned job site and be ready to begin work at the designated start time.
  • Adhere to company attendance policy.
  • Assist co-workers or supervisors with other Quarry duties as required.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas.
  • Operate equipment safely and efficiently under various working conditions.
  • Understand and follow verbal instructions.
  • Communicate effectively.
