About The Position

To support the Martinsburg quarry department in optimizing operations through modern analysis, engineering, planning, scheduling, and leadership. This includes short-term mine planning, blast optimization, equipment performance analysis, and project management to achieve the Quarry's goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mining or Geological Engineering, or a related engineering/geology degree with mine engineering experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of mine or quarry engineering experience, preferably in surface mining.
  • Strong commitment to safety and career development.
  • Proficient in mine planning software (GPS, AutoCAD; experience with Surpac or Carlson Mining preferred).
  • Technical knowledge in drilling, blasting, fleet tracking, and rock quality control.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and planning skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision.
  • Proficient in software such as Excel, Access, SAP, and AutoCAD.
  • Team player who can handle challenging situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Cement industry experience preferred.
  • FAA Part 107 drone license is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support quarry operations in all technical aspects of mining and geological engineering, including short-term mine planning, AutoCAD updates, ground control, and surveying.
  • Weekly production planning and performance tracking for drilling, blasting, and equipment.
  • Optimize rock quality to maximize reserves and ensure material quality.
  • Utilize KPIs and database management to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Implement engineering projects in accordance with strategic mine plans and manage surface mining operations.
  • Operate mining technology, including drones, and manage water control projects while researching new tools for safe quarry operations.
  • Manage improvement projects, optimize production, support contractor management, assist with budget preparation, and maintain MSHA documentation.
  • Ensure mine plans align with production requirements.
  • Achieve product quality and cost commitments as a team.
  • Comply with regulatory requirements and promote safe work practices.
  • Communicate safety and operational concerns to management.
  • Provide relief supervision and perform other assigned duties.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screening, which may include a physical, background check, and drug screen.
