About The Position

Quantum Machines is looking for a Quantum Control Physicist to work closely with customers to design, optimize, and troubleshoot advanced quantum control workflows on real quantum hardware. In this role, you will serve as a technical bridge between customer use cases, experimental requirements, and robust software solutions, ensuring customers successfully deploy and scale quantum experiments using Quantum Machines’ platform. You'll work at the intersection of quantum physics and software engineering, translating complex calibration requirements into robust automation frameworks. This position offers unprecedented exposure to diverse qubit types and quantum architectures, enabling you to create groundbreaking calibration solutions while helping customers implement quantum computing experiments

Requirements

  • Master/PhD in quantum physics with 4+ years of experimental quantum physics/computing experience.
  • PhD/Master in quantum physics, Computer/ SW Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, Quantum Information Science, or a related field. 4+ years of experimental quantum physics/computing experience.
  • Strong background in Machine learning, Deep learning.
  • Strong Python proficiency, including scientific or systems-oriented codebases.
  • Solid software engineering fundamentals (architecture, Git workflows, testing, code review).
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and customer‑focused mindset; ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proven software development track record and excellent technical communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with customers to understand experimental goals and system constraints.
  • Design, implement, and optimize quantum control workflows for customer applications.
  • Troubleshoot software, system-level, and experiment-integration issues on real quantum hardware.
  • Provide technical guidance, documentation, and best practices to ensure customer success.
  • Develop and maintain Python-based applications, tools, and examples aligned with scalable software architectures.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, R&D, and hardware teams, relaying customer feedback and leading technical implementations.
  • Design and optimize automated calibration workflows and contribute to customer training materials.
