About The Position

Position: Optical Quantum Communication Intern Number of Position(s): 1 Duration: 10 weeks Date: June - August 2025 Location: Onsite Murray Hill, NJ 07974, USA The team you'll be part of: The Advanced Photonics Research Group within Smart Network in Bell Labs advances the state-of-the-art quantum communications systems and their underlying subsystems. Hands-on experience with optics and optoelectronics devices; experience in quantum communication, single-photon detection systems, optical amplifiers, high-speed device design and experimentation; experience in digital signal processing is required.

Requirements

• Good programming skills
• Solid background in communication technology
• Experience with fiber optic communication system test beds
• Experience in digital signal processing techniques

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Python programming is a big plus
• Experience with FPGAs or GPUs as computing units

Responsibilities

• Develops skills to carry out basic, repetitive, manual tasks that are described in detail and conducted under close supervision.
• As a summer intern, you will be part of a research organization and work on research projects addressing the fundamental limits of quantum communication.
