The Internship Program GCM is looking for a talented student to join as a Quantitative Finance and Computer Science intern on our Quantitative Trading and Research Operations team. GCM’s paid internship features a structured program consisting of educational, skill-building and networking events. Learning is the cornerstone of our culture and plays an active role in the internship experience through daily collaboration and interaction with employees at all levels, and most significantly by working on projects that matter to the fundamentals of our business. The role will be fully in-person based out of our Rowayton, CT office for the 9-week program. Team & Responsibilities The Quantitative Trading and Research Operations team supports the Research team by developing and enforcing best practices, analyzing system financial and computational performance, and executing trades. Interns can expect to gain familiarity with all areas of the team, with a particular focus on current initiatives regarding trading system implementation, computational resource utilization, creating build and deployment processes, containerization, and investigating cloud computing.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in relevant quantitative field
  • Strong Python skills
  • Strong program design fundamentals
  • Coursework or planned coursework in cybersecurity
  • Comfort working in the command line on Unix
  • Comfort using version control, such as Git
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with JavaScript and HTML
  • Familiarity with relational databases such as SQL
  • Knowledge of R and MATLAB are helpful, as is familiarity with writing test cases
