In this role, the Quantitative Analyst will engage in a variety of functions related to the pre-construction size optimizations of renewable generators, including both distributed and utility-scale systems, as well as battery storage and traditional utility generators. The analyst will utilize advanced software tools and develop optimization models using programming languages such as Python, R, and Excel to tackle complex electricity demand and generation supply issues. The position involves conducting quantitative studies and analyses of spot and forward prices, as well as price volatilities, to inform pricing, trading, and risk management decisions. The analyst will contribute to the development of core algorithms and models that support trading, origination, and asset optimization decisions. A strong understanding of distributed generation, utility tariff structures, and market fundamentals is essential for success in this role. The analyst will also work on improving existing optimization algorithms and developing new code bases, ensuring high-quality code and software infrastructure. In addition to technical skills, the role requires collaboration with various teams, including origination, risk management, and trading, to interpret model valuations and respond to trading requests. The analyst will assist in developing energy price forecasts, forward curves, and volatility models, as well as designing risk management tools to evaluate the company's risk profile and exposure levels.
