About the position

The Quantitative Analyst will be responsible for evaluating energy market conditions, tracking commercial activity in the electricity industry, and following commodity news as it pertains to PJM. They will work closely with the Sr. Manager, Market Risk to produce reports that communicate market trends to the broader Risk group, develop financial models with respect to potential commercial transactions, and generate forward views of electricity markets. The objective of the role is to continue growing PJM's Risk initiative, specifically as it pertains to forward activity in PJM energy, capacity and FTR markets.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate energy market conditions and track commercial activity in the electricity industry.
  • Follow commodity news as it pertains to PJM.
  • Produce reports that communicate market trends to the broader Risk group.
  • Develop financial models with respect to potential commercial transactions.
  • Generate forward views of electricity markets.
  • Liaise among internal departments to communicate risk management initiatives and spearhead cross-department projects.
  • Interface with members, peers and others to provide expertise in specialized area of market risk.
  • Develop dashboard reporting and prepare risk calculations related to market conditions, commercial activity and commodity news.
  • Present findings to senior management.
  • Perform quantitative analysis and cash flow forecasting of potential commercial transactions and/or market movements.
  • Stay updated with industry best practices, regulatory changes, and advancements in financial modeling.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Economics, Mathematics or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to produce high-quality work products with attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment.
  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Experience using verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (MS-Word, MS-Excel and MS-PowerPoint).

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with PJM operations, markets, and planning functions.
  • Experience supporting any of PJM Committees.
