About The Position

Owens Corning, global in scope - human in scale. We’re an international company, with solid roots in Mechanicsburg, PA, and we’ve got opportunities for a few dynamic people to join our local team. The Quality Technician is an integral part of our production team, involved in daily processes and successful outcomes for our facility and its customers. This position works closely with teammates at multiple levels in customizing product, per specs, in preparation for shipment.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 Years Old
  • Work safely and follow all plant rules
  • Show initiative, be a self-starter
  • Communicate, in English, in a clear and effective manner
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Work independently, as well as part of a team, and have end of shift flexibility
  • Read a tape measure and do basic math
  • Ability to use an RF scanner
  • Stand for 8 - 10 hours straight
  • Climb and descend stairs/ladder as needed for the role
  • Do repetitive movements (hand, arm, leg; bending and twisting at the waist; bending at the knee; squatting; lift, push and pull 50-pounds)
  • Withstand exposure to temperature extremes; sounds or noise levels that may be uncomfortable
  • Handle, control and feel raw materials and finished goods

Nice To Haves

  • Preferably one year experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Preferably one year experience using pneumatic, power, and hand tools
  • Preferably one year experience operating a forklift

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, repair, and reclaim pallets as needed to ensure proper functionality and safety standards.
  • Execute 5S+1 (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, and Safety) practices across the facility to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, supporting continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Perform various door repair tasks in the repair shop using pneumatic, power, and hand tools safely.
  • Address and repair floor damage, ensuring a safe and clean working environment for all personnel.
  • Maintain and repair carts used in the facility, ensuring they are in good working condition for operational needs.
  • Support the quality control team by conducting inspections and ensuring adherence to quality standards.
  • Operate sit-down forklift to move materials as needed
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  • Maintain an adequate level of product knowledge.
  • Move components and materials safely and report issues to leadership.
  • Wear PPE such as composite/steel toed shoes, safety glasses, earplugs, gloves (per job function), and high visibility clothing.
