About The Position

The Quality Technician ensures product safety, quality, and compliance by monitoring production processes, conducting inspections, and supporting food safety programs such as HACCP and GMP. This role is responsible for verifying specifications, documenting results, identifying and escalating issues, and supporting audit readiness and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous food manufacturing experience with 6+ months in quality control preferred
  • HACCP and SQF experience preferred
  • Basic math skills including percentages, fractions, and decimals
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to understand label requirements, lot code formats, procedures, diagrams, and written specifications
  • Ability to learn and apply procedures and safety protocols
  • Clear communication and active listening
  • Teamwork and ability to work independently
  • Attention to detail and focus
  • Time management and prioritization
  • Ability to stand, walk, twist, and reach for extended periods (8–10 hours), use hands to operate keyboards and controls, and regularly lift and move up to 50 lbs. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Ability to work in demanding environments including crowded conditions and cold storage (approximately 40°F)
  • During the holiday seasons, time off is limited.

Responsibilities

  • Follow and enforce all safety, food safety, and GMP guidelines; report unsafe conditions immediately
  • Ensure HACCP plans are properly executed, monitor CCPs within tolerance, and take corrective actions when required
  • Perform production and process verification activities, including lot codes, weights, measurements, labeling, packaging, and product appearance
  • Conduct inspections of incoming materials and finished goods to ensure compliance with specifications, coordinating with warehouse for receiving inspections
  • Monitor and document temperature controls for coolers, refrigeration, and frozen products, including exposure at room temperature as applicable
  • Complete pre-operational inspections (visual and swabbing: ATP, allergen) and perform environmental swabbing per SOP schedules
  • Accurately record inspection results in QC systems and maintain documentation to support compliance and audit readiness
  • Support QA Supervisor with procedures, regulatory compliance, labeling, and nutritional documentation
  • Identify, communicate, and escalate quality issues promptly to ensure timely corrective action
  • Other Duties as assigned
