About The Position

The Quality Technician is a member of the site Quality Assurance team, responsible for the delivery of quality control data through the execution of laboratory analysis. This role performs sampling, testing, and data reporting to support plant operations and ensure product quality meets Finlays standards. The Quality Technician employs wet chemical, instrumentation, and microbiological techniques to generate reliable laboratory data, while maintaining compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), food safety protocols, and world-class housekeeping standards. Requirements

  • Education: Degree or Diploma in a science-related field preferred.
  • Experience: 1–2 years of laboratory experience.
  • Laboratory Skills: Expert knowledge of analytical and microbiological laboratory techniques and practices, including sampling, weighing, pipetting, and titrating.
  • Safety Knowledge: Good knowledge of laboratory health and safety practices related to toxic substances, chemicals, reagents, and safe working practices.
  • Quality & Food Safety: Knowledge of quality and food safety management systems and metrological compliance as it pertains to laboratories.
  • Data Handling: Proficient in MS Office, including Excel for data recording. Working knowledge of basic statistics (means, median, standard deviation, range) and ability to apply this to laboratory data.
  • Communication: Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Laboratory Analysis: Conduct sampling and sample management as required by the site monitoring and measuring plan, employing wet chemical, instrumentation, and microbiological techniques to generate accurate laboratory data.
  • Data Quality: Produce repeatable, reproducible, and reliable laboratory data to align with the Finlays Advanced Analytical Strategy and ensure compliance with 1Finlays protocols, standards, and methods.
  • Equipment Management: Apply Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) to ensure equipment service and repair, calibration, metrological compliance, and adherence to health and safety protocols. Calibrate and quality assure non-lab-based quality measurement devices.
  • Reporting & Communication: Generate daily, weekly, and monthly records and reports that support operations in establishing the status of site quality. Communicate out-of-specification results promptly as required by site and Group protocols.
  • Problem-Solving: Conduct basic problem-solving to address and validate anomalous results as required.
  • Training Support: Conduct training for shift and process personnel as applicable for quality analysis and measurement techniques.
  • Task Planning: Plan own daily tasks in the laboratory to ensure continuity of service to plant operations and maintain world-class housekeeping standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Attend training and competence initiatives as required. Play an active role in the laboratory team to deliver a high level of service.
