About The Position

As a Quality Technician at Wheatland Tube a division of Zekelman Industries , Rochelle, IL, you will support plant quality initiatives by performing inspections, testing activities, and environmental process monitoring to ensure compliance with company and customer requirements. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, analytical, and thrives in a hands-on manufacturing environment focused on continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Minimum five years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong analytical, computational, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong team player with the ability to coordinate efforts across departments.
  • Commitment to promoting health and safety practices in accordance with regulatory agencies and company policy.
  • Ability to bend, twist, stoop, sit, kneel, crawl, push, and pull.
  • Ability to reach in all directions.
  • Ability to perform additional physical requirements as needed for the role.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties in accordance with company safety policies and report unsafe conditions.
  • Conduct inspection and testing activities in support of plant quality requirements.
  • Notify operational personnel when product is out of tolerance and verify quality after adjustments are made.
  • Support operations in identifying root causes and resolving issues before they impact quality.
  • Identify, record, and properly tag non-conforming products.
  • Monitor cleaning and environmental processes, including calibrating pH instrumentation and performing titrations on process tanks.
  • Monitor wastewater treatment systems and record water flow meter and pH readings throughout the facility.
  • Perform laboratory indicator testing of effluent water and make process adjustments as needed.
  • Conduct process inspections and workstation audits to ensure quality procedures are implemented and effective.
  • Support gauge calibration programs by issuing, monitoring, and auditing gauges used on the shop floor.
  • Train employees as needed on quality procedures and requirements.
  • Coordinate special projects and participate in continuous improvement and yield initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Maintain regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance.
