RRC is seeking a talented Quality Technician III to help us build the future of U.S. energy production from our Austin/Round Rock, Texas office. The Quality Technician III supports quality assurance and commissioning activities on utility-scale solar, BESS, and substation projects. This role performs advanced inspections, witnesses testing, and supports commissioning and energization activities while ensuring construction and electrical work complies with project specifications, safety standards, and warranty requirements. Requirements

  • 5–8 years of experience in quality, commissioning, or electrical roles within utility-scale solar, BESS, or substations
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, commissioning processes, and construction quality practices
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and test procedures
  • Experience performing field inspections and documentation on active construction sites
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in the field

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 510, NFPA 70E, AVO Electrical Safety
  • PV systems, BESS, or substation commissioning experience
  • Familiarity with QA/QC documentation and reporting tools (Procore, SAP, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Basic SCADA, DAS, or inverter system knowledge
  • UAV (drone) inspection experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality inspections for civil, mechanical, and electrical scopes from construction through commissioning
  • Verify installation quality for solar, BESS, inverters, trackers, and substation equipment
  • Document workmanship, materials, and installation methods in daily quality reports
  • Support cold and hot commissioning activities for solar plants, BESS, and substations
  • Participate in inverter, tracker, DAS, and SCADA commissioning activities
  • Assist with substation energization activities under direction of commissioning and electrical leads
  • Assist with PRC NERC requirements, including support and scheduling
  • Witness electrical testing, switching, and energization activities
  • Assist with outages and switching for sectionalized and single-bus systems
  • Support performance, capacity, and functional testing for solar and BESS systems
  • Collect and track quality data using field tools and reporting platforms
  • Support root cause investigations and corrective actions
  • Complete inspection checklists, test records, and non-conformance reports (NCRs)
  • Verify construction meets project specifications, codes, and warranty requirements
  • Review and follow approved quality plans, inspection test plans (ITPs), and procedures
  • Communicate recurring quality issues and lessons learned to QA leadership
  • Interface with Clients, Owners, EPCs, subcontractors, and commissioning teams to resolve quality issues
  • Communicate field observations and corrective actions to site leadership and clients as required
  • Support pre-install inspections and first-install reviews as required
  • Document all information for clients as required by the project scope of work
  • Follow electrical safety requirements including NFPA 70E and site-specific safety plans
  • Review and comply with Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs)
  • Promote safe work practices during inspections and commissioning activities
