About The Position

The Quality Technician I will be responsible for testing materials according to standard operating procedures and methodologies. The Quality Technician I will support the quality, operations, technical service, and product development functions.

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to use the computer to complete the computer skills required above. The employee is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Laboratory Safety and Inventory Management
  • Responsible for maintaining a high level of chemical hygiene and always wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ensure that safety equipment, including but not limited to, safety showers, eyewash stations, fume hoods, sinks, and flammable cabinets are within working order.
  • Stock and maintain lab supply necessary for day-to-day function of the laboratory including PPE and consumables.
  • Maintain storage of chemicals, including volatile organic compounds, in a safe manner.
  • Perform chemical inventory on a quarterly basis ensuring older and aged chemicals are disposed of properly and according to OSHA practices.
  • Equipment Calibration and Standardization
  • Ensure that testing equipment is standardized daily, and a log of the standard is maintained on the company network.
  • Communicate to the broader team when equipment is out of calibration and is non-functional.
  • Coordinate maintenance, repair, and calibration of equipment – including placing of purchase orders and scheduling vendor technical service visits.
  • Perform timely calibrations of laboratory equipment and maintain proper documentation and log of data.
  • Quality Testing and Reporting
  • Perform testing according to standardized test methods.
  • Inspect incoming materials for visual defects and perform testing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Maintain test data in lab notebook as well as report data digitally using excel formatted sheets, and ERP system.
  • Create test reports and communicate any materials out of specification that should be placed on hold for further review.
  • Maintain retain and data records for reference.
  • Analyze materials to ensure they conform to material standards and application requirements.
