About The Position

The Quality Systems Manager is responsible for leading and managing all Quality Assurance personnel, including Quality Engineers, Supplier Quality Engineers, and Calibration Technicians—ensuring United Rotorcraft’s Quality Systems comply with FAA, DOD, ITAR, and ISO9001/AS9100 standards. This role oversees the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality processes and systems to meet regulatory and customer requirements, driving continuous improvement and operational excellence across the division.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) from four-year college or university in a management or technical field and seven (7) or more years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 3-5 years related experience in a quality systems or continuous improvement related capacity
  • Quality/supplier auditing experience required
  • Strong knowledge of ISO9001/AS9100 standards
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of FAA conformity/airworthiness regulations and procedures a plus
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of (D)FAR and ITAR/EAR regulations a plus
  • Must have excellent organization skills and be able to work multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a high degree of collaboration at all levels
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to understand business situations, strategies, theory, processes, management, budgeting, and operations
  • Demonstrates high critical thinking and reasoning skills and strong attention to detail while working in a fast-paced environment that requires ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, Access, and Share Point
  • Previous experience with database/software configuration

Responsibilities

  • Provide general managerial and technical oversight to QA team employees
  • Organize and assign work to QA team employees
  • Conduct new and recurring departmental training and mentorship for QA team employees
  • Ensure and maintain a safe work environment for QA team employees
  • Recommend changes in workforce and facilities commensurate with Quality support requirements
  • Initiate activities associated with personnel status changes
  • Represent QA in divisional meetings
  • Assist division management in the composition and implementation of the Quality Management System (QMS) and its quality-related documentation
  • Plan/manage budget for QA team
  • Provide divisional management with quality and performance data analysis
  • Document minutes during Management Review Meetings (as needed)
  • Working with stakeholders, employ root cause analysis, FMEA, and other quality and risk management tools to investigate trends and develop corrective and preventive action plans
  • Perform audits to verify implementation and effectiveness of corrective and preventive action plans
  • Plan, lead, and participate in company and 3rd party compliance audits
  • Audit internal processes and procedures to establish compliance to current, applicable requirements
  • Facilitate QA team partnership with operational departments as needed to assist with technical writing; maintains approvals of QMS documents (i.e. manuals, procedures, work instructions, and forms)
  • Provide education and guidance as needed to management and staff for Quality Systems processes, quality assurance activities, and compliance with applicable regulations and standards
  • Assist in conducting new hire and on-going Quality Systems training (ISO9001/AS9100)
  • Ensure Supply Chain activities are adequately supported for Quality and that processes comply with applicable regulations (e.g., FAA, DOD) and standards (e.g., AS9100)
  • Assist the division in the communication of engineering and manufacturing specifications to supplier technical teams; assure compliance to all applicable legal requirements pertaining to production of product
  • Develop long‐term supplier relationships, generate, and implement cost reduction ideas, and drive a “Zero Defect” mentality within the supply base
  • Assist with supplier audits (as needed)
  • Champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers to eliminate recurrence of non‐conforming product
  • Work to resolve supplier technical issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply and to ensure there are no regressions with the implementation of new processes (may involve travel to supplier locations)
  • Lead supplier performance improvement projects to increase supplier capability; projects may include process/workflow analysis, value stream mapping, process capability and throughput analysis, 5S and Kaizen events
  • Regular scheduled attendance
  • Indicate the percentage of time spent traveling <5%
  • Subject to applicable laws and Air Method’s policies, regular attendance is an essential function of the position.

  • Directly supervises employees for all locations in the department within United Rotorcraft.
  • Carries out Supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, selecting, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • For Exempt Managers: Managers that carry out these responsibilities for two or more employees will have significant input in hiring and termination decisions.
