The Quality Supervisor is responsible for overseeing quality control operations within the plant; supporting both internal and external quality initiatives. This role ensures that inspections, audits, and quality procedures are executed effectively and consistently. The Quality Supervisor leads a team of inspectors, supports supplier quality development, facilitates training programs, and drives continuous improvement aligned with ISO, ASME, and Nuclear standards.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma required; associate’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 5+ years’ experience in Quality Assurance and Manufacturing.
  • A demonstrated track record of communicating and training associates to achieve the quality standards required.
  • Displays the need for thoroughness and attention to detail.
  • Strong computer skills required.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • NDT Level II VT certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Lean manufacturing is preferred.
  • An understanding of Quality standards (ISO, ASM, NQA) is a plus.
  • NDT Level II PT, MT certification is preferred.
  • CWI certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor Quality Control Inspectors, ensuring adherence to procedures and standards. Standing in as need to support workloads, vacations, and increased production.
  • Perform and oversee Level I & II NDE inspections (VT, PT, MT) and ensure proper documentation, reporting, and timely completion.
  • Lead internal audits and support external audits with customers and regulatory bodies.
  • Review and approve inspection reports, test results, and nonconformance documentation.
  • Coordinate with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions and quality alerts.
  • Performs quality audits on suppliers and subcontractors, traveling to their facility, to perform either a new supplier audit or to perform quality system audits. Support the suppliers as needed to elevate their quality program and hence improve their supplier of product. (as needed).
  • Deliver training programs for welding, business processes, lean manufacturing, and quality systems functions (develop as needed).
  • Maintain and improve quality procedures, standard work, and documentation systems.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action processes for internal and external nonconformances.
  • Participates in Quality Meetings and follows up on action items and improvements agreed upon.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO, ASME, and Nuclear standards. Support with training, documenting, development, and improvements with the goal of meeting and exceeding these standards.
  • Promote Lean and continuous improvement initiatives, including Gemba walks and Kaizen events.
  • Ensure the guidelines, procedures, specifications and reports on the product are executed at the plant level.
  • Interpret test results, compare them to established specifications and control limits, and makes recommendations on appropriateness of data for release.
  • Compile test data and submit it to Level III (as needed) for analysis and approval.
  • Complete documentation needed to support testing procedures, including data capture forms, equipment logbooks, or inventory forms.
  • Monitor and ensure clear rework/repair instructions are implemented to meet customer and compliance requirements.
  • Support in the development of quality standards and help to communicate them to all plant employees.
  • Perform plant audits in a timely fashion so as to support the On-time Delivery of product.
  • Report on chronic quality issues at plant level and report defects over allowable specifications to the Quality Manager and/or the Plant Manager and/or a Level III Inspector.
  • Review quality audit data and act with production team associates to make the necessary changes to improve product and process controls.
  • Works with incoming customer inspectors to support them with documentation, paperwork and questionnaires. Addresses the nonconformance that comes from the audits.
  • Support the Quality team in the writing and maintenance of quality procedures. Also support the development of standard work.
  • Enter nonconformances into the system, defining the path forward with a resolution. Perform root cause analysis (if required), developing a quick resolution to any nonconformances ensuring adherence to procedures and specifications.
  • Provides Quality reference materials as needed, consisting of component standards, design folders, customer specifications, defect guides, etc.
  • Manage key quality logs, reports, and KPI’s to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Support welder testing and training to drive high quality welding work in the plant.
  • Ensure timely and accurate data entry for audits and inspections.
  • Travel up to 10–15% for supplier audits and cross-site support.
  • Comply with company safety and operational guidelines.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned by the Quality Manager and/or the Plant Manager.
