About The Position

The Quality Supervisor is responsible for leading, coaching, and developing team members within the quality department to ensure production processes meet established standards for safety, quality, and delivery for both internal and external customers. The Supervisor is the front line of leadership at the plant level. Their purpose is to oversee all operations within their area (zone). Supervisors are also moral builders and are responsible for creating a positive work environment for all employees. This role is critical in maintaining product integrity, driving continuous improvement, and supporting the overall operational goals of the plant.

Requirements

  • Knowledge base normally associated with high school or technical school completion or the equivalent.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in Quality within a manufacturing setting.
  • Basic measurement and gage use skills.
  • Strong manufacturing and quality background (automotive preferred).
  • Proficient computer and documentation skills.
  • Basic math and analytical skills.
  • Effective team building and leadership capabilities.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills using disciplined methodologies (e.g., 5 Whys, root cause analysis).

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned processes with detailed accuracy and discipline.
  • Coach and assist all employees with problem solving, performance, and personal issues.
  • Train team members on processes, procedures, and job tasks within their work zone.
  • Certify team members on individual workstations to satisfy each level of progression on the skills matrix.
  • Ensure quality standards are met and maintained in all manufacturing areas.
  • Monitor production to ensure on-time delivery according to customer requirements and production schedules.
  • Pay close attention to detail, emphasizing safety, housekeeping, quality, performance, management directives, and employee well-being.
  • Lead incident reporting and conduct thorough root cause investigations for injuries, near misses, and equipment incidents (e.g., mishits, tool crashes).
  • Monitor employee attendance and administer discipline in accordance with company policies and the employee handbook.
  • Track and evaluate production quality and throughput; ensure hour-by-hour boards, zone boards, and other monitoring tools are kept current.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional support teams to restore processes to standard when abnormal conditions occur.
  • Manage day-to-day operations in alignment with staffing and attendance.
  • Direct team leaders, material handlers, operators, and support groups on daily assignments and priorities.
  • Conduct daily talks to reinforce safety, quality, and performance standards.
  • Follow company procedures for production identification and traceability, non-conforming material containment, inventory movement, and production reporting.
