About The Position

This is a key Quality Leadership position at the Carry-On Trailer facility, located in Missouri Valley, IA. The Missouri Valley Plant Quality Supervisor will report solid line to the COT Director of Quality. This role will work closely with suppliers, external and internal customers, and other team members to address existing quality related issues and will work with other Quality professionals across the company to ensure best practice sharing and collaborative focus while developing the Quality System at the Missouri Valley facility. This role will have a dotted line reporting relationship to the Plant Manager and will be a member of the Plant Managers Leadership team supporting the plant. • This role will be responsible for identifying and conducting statistical analysis of production processes and reporting of findings and assisting in the resolution, as assigned, at the Missouri Valley facility. • This role will be responsible for significantly improving the company’s quality processes for increased efficiency and reduction of quality defects across the various value streams at the Missouri Valley facility. • This role will leverage both internal and external supplier performance data and work with the Corporate Supplier Quality Engineer and key suppliers on improving quality of purchased materials and components that impact the company finished product quality, cost and performance. Advanced Product Quality Planning will be utilized/applied to prepare the Missouri Valley facility for a successful rollout. • This role will be called upon to leverage and be proficient with such tools and methods as A3, PDCA, RCCA, OTD, 8D, or other similar tools to communicate current state and actions to improve the quality, cost and performance of the company’s product and processes. • This role will be responsible for leveraging process-oriented approaches that eliminate process variation by creating, revising and implementing work instructions or quality standards to ensure output parts and products will meet all internal and external requirements. • This role will leverage their background and experience and must be capable of interacting at all levels of the supply chain with our suppliers, customers (internal and external) and other team members. • This role will leverage warranty data and related information to improve the overall quality of finished products • This role will lead. mentor and coach cross functional plant and supplier problem solving activities to achieve the overall company product quality, cost and performance goals. • This role will work with plant operational and lean practitioners in promoting the application of error proofing solutions that leverage root cause analysis and corrective actions to sustain improvement. • This role will provide quality functional technical expertise for development, maintenance and adherence to engineering and quality specifications both internally and with suppliers. • This role will be responsible for communicating the status of quality issues internally and to customers as required. • This role will also include training employees; planning, coordinating work through operations leadership, addressing complaints, and resolving quality related problems

Requirements

  • ASQ Certification as a Certified Quality Engineer is a plus (CQE).
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment focused on either process improvements, or supplier quality (or both).
  • Candidate must be proficient in statistical process control and understand how those elements impact the understanding of a process (Cp, Cpk, XBar & R or S, etc.).
  • Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of a given Quality Management System such as ISO 9001:2015, TS16949, etc.
  • Candidate must have functional understanding of the supplier-customer relationship, have experience as the primary liaison to a critical supplier, and must be capable of interacting at all levels of the supply chain with our customers (internal and external).
  • Must be able to generate effective reporting to include A3, PDCA, RCCA, OTD, 8D, or other similar tools to communicate current state and actions to improve.

  • Strong Analytical skills
  • Must be self-starting, independent, autonomous, creative, and an internally motivated team member.
  • Effective communication skills with ability to speak at all levels of the company (shop floor to executive leadership team) is very important.

Responsibilities
