About The Position

Position Summary: The Quality Supervisor is responsible for the planning, scheduling, and performance of all hourly quality department personnel at US Ceramics Group facilities. The primary role of this position is to ensure that visual and dimensional inspections conducted by quality personnel meet all quality requirements and production commitments. Essential functions: · Supervise and track performance of Quality Department hourly employees including Layout and Calibration Technicians, Final Auditors, and Source Auditors in multiple Ceramics Group locations · Ensure dimensional inspections, in-process SPC checks, periodic die layouts, calibrations, final audits, and source audits are conducted as required · Ensure adequacy of related training of personnel and the quality of inspections · Ensure adherence to related written policies, procedures, and related work instructions · Monitor, analyze data, and take action to improve incoming quality and to improve the productivity of direct reports · Develop daily plans and work assignments to hit shipping commits · Schedule vacations and assist other supervisors and managers in addressing training needs to improve performance · Counsel employees on performance and conduct employee reviews and disciplinary action as required · Ensure communication of dimensional and visual issues resulting from inspections. Work with quality, engineering, operations, and production control to drive resolution using 8D’s or other problem resolution tools · Review and approve quality documentation related to areas of responsibility · Attend and participate in various production, shipping, and quality meetings · Initiate and implement system improvements for departmental safety, quality, productivity, efficiency, and organization in related areas · Ensure ongoing safe work practices in all related areas · Ensure adequate housekeeping and workplace organization based on 6S principles in related areas · Learn all visual requirements and be able to interpret customer flow downs, QEI’s, and relevant internal procedures to help resolve disputes at various Ceramics Group locations or its customers · Provide general visual inspection assistance and training to other departments, facilities, and business units as required · Maintain accurate records of auditing, training, certification activities, and personnel performance. · Ability to work upon request in all areas/locations deemed necessary by management (internal or external finishing houses, various business units, Merida, etc.). · Willingness and ability to learn and perform previous tasks and new assignments · Conduct internal audits as needed · This position reports to the Quality Manager · Required Skills: · Must be detail oriented and well organized. · Ability to work in a high-paced, cross-functional team · Must be self-directed to accomplish the team goals with minimum supervision · Demonstrate ability to meet short term goals and drive long term improvements · Must have good interpersonal skills for daily interactions with direct reports (auditors) as well as customers, suppliers, internal employees, and the quality team. · Open to working overtime to support shipping and finishing schedules. · Willing to travel as needed to Merida and/or Sanford to conduct training or resolve issues. Experience & Education · BS in engineering or other technical degree · Prior experience in supervision · Experience in performing, coordinating, or supervising testing and inspection

  • Willing to travel as needed to Merida and/or Sanford to conduct training or resolve issues.
  • BS in engineering or other technical degree
  • Prior experience in supervision
