This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. In this role, you will establish, implement, maintain, and enforce quality system processes that support products in a production environment. As needed, measure, analyze, and improve quality system performance consistent with organization quality goals, integrate quality system applications between engineering, manufacturing, and operations to ensure the consistent and ongoing use of quality best practices and communication of quality issues, and facilitate troubleshooting of quality issues with various teams, lead causal analysis activities to drive to root cause and corrective action. In addition, you will perform reviews and approve manufacturing build documents including work orders and nonconformance records. You will perform periodic audits of the application of our quality system in accordance with AS9100, recommend initiatives and/or changes that will improve product and system quality, and provide quality assurance subject matter expertise to inspection, manufacturing and test. Periodically, you will interface with internal and external customers on quality related concerns and develop training materials to build quality awareness. You will report directly to the Quality Engineering Manager. As part of a hardworking team of Quality Specialist, you will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of developing, testing and launching Space systems to support Blue Origin’s Vision. Requirements

  • 5+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing and/or integration environment
  • Familiarity with precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, pin gauges)
  • Ability to conduct in-process and closeout inspections per engineering drawing requirements and work instructions criteria
  • Ability to document inspection reports and audit manufacturing build records
  • Familiarity conducting Process surveillance audits and reporting
  • Experience with quality tools such as Lean principles, Six Sigma, root cause analysis and corrective action
  • Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO9001 Quality Management System and/or related quality systems and programs
  • Ability to support manufacturing schedules and overtime on as needed basis

Nice To Haves

  • Aerospace, space launch, military, automotive or commercial aviation experience
  • Related experience within a start-up environment, transitioning a product from development, through production to operations
  • Experience with advanced product quality planning (APQP), process failure mode and effects analysis (PFMEA), control plans, and various problem solving approaches
  • Quality performance measurement analysis capabilities (SPC)
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification
  • Basic knowledge and familiarity on Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
