The Quality Scientist performs microbiological and analytical testing on spices and seasonings, in-process materials, and finished products to ensure compliance with external standards and specifications. Microbiological methods include total plate count (TPC), yeast and mold and total coliforms. Analytical methods include wet chemistry techniques such as solvent extraction, the operation of laboratory instruments like HPLC, spectrophotometers, pH meters, and more. This role supports food safety and quality programs through production facility inspections, sampling, and documentation. The Quality Scientist maintains rigorous standards in line with GMPs, GLPs, and food safety protocols. All incumbents report to the QC Supervisor or, in their absence, the Head of Quality. This position plays a critical role in upholding product integrity across the production environment. This position is regularly scheduled to be staffed Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for first shift and 4:00 pm to 12:00 am for second shift, with occasional overtime as needed to support department and company business needs. This posted position is heavily focused in microbiology testing with opportunity to cross train in other analytical methods.
