About The Position

The Quality Process Engineering Intern will support the development, analysis, and improvement of high-volume, highly automated manufacturing processes within our production environment. This role provides hands-on exposure to advanced automated equipment, precision inspection systems, and data-driven quality controls used in the renewable energy industry. The intern will work alongside experienced Quality and Process Engineers to drive improvements in equipment performance, product quality, and operational efficiency. This position is ideal for students who want meaningful project experience in sustainable manufacturing and next-generation automation.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in:
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Manufacturing Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mechatronics Engineering
  • Quality Engineering
  • Or related technical field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly with data-driven decisions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or similar analysis tools.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical information in both written and verbal formats.
  • Interest in automated manufacturing, renewable energy, and quality systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience or coursework involving automated manufacturing, robotics, PLCs, or vision systems.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, SPC, or continuous improvement tools.
  • Exposure to statistical software (Minitab, JMP, Python, etc.).
  • Prior hands-on experience in a factory, lab, or engineering project setting.
  • Understanding of engineering prints, tolerances, and common metrology tools.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in analyzing equipment and process data to monitor performance, identify defects, and support continuous improvement.
  • Support process capability evaluations (Cp, Cpk) and measurement system analyses (MSA) for automated production lines.
  • Help develop, revise, and maintain quality documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, and troubleshooting guides for automated systems.
  • Participate in root cause analysis (5 Why, Fishbone analysis) related to equipment faults, variation, and process deviations.
  • Conduct time studies, bottleneck assessments, and workflow analyses to support optimization of automated lines.
  • Assist engineers with the validation and testing of new automation technologies, tooling, sensors, or inspection systems.
  • Collect and analyze real-time process data to support quality dashboards, reporting, and trend analysis.
  • Participate in internal audits, layered process audits, and compliance checks related to renewable energy manufacturing standards.
  • Collaborate across Quality, Process Engineering, Production, and Maintenance to support continuous improvement projects.
  • Perform additional engineering tasks and project support as assigned.
