Job Title: Quality Manufacturing Inspector - 3rd Shift Reporting To: Fabrication Quality Manager Work Schedule: Onsite – Torrance, CA Our team in Military Aircraft Group is looking for 3rd Shift Quality Manufacturing Inspector to join them. You will report to the Fabrication Quality Manager and will have an onsite 3rd shift (10:00pm – 6:00am, Monday – Friday) schedule in Torrance, CA. As a Quality & Manufacturing Inspector, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring that complex aerospace components meet rigorous quality standards. You’ll diagnose and resolve sophisticated manufacturing challenges, drive process improvements, and collaborate closely with Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams to elevate product reliability and reduce waste.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a technical discipline and 3+ years of machine shop or quality experience, or 7+ years of hands‑on experience in a manufacturing or quality environment.
  • Strong understanding of SPC, GD&T, and advanced measurement methods.
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation.
  • Strong problem‑solving mindset with the ability to influence and collaborate across departments.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism, especially in cross‑functional interactions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Zeiss Calypso CMM software.

Responsibilities

  • Support root‑cause analysis on complex, long‑term quality issues and recommend preventive actions to eliminate recurrence.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with Engineering, Machine Shop Leadership, and Quality teams to resolve technical issues and improve manufacturing processes.
  • Perform precision inspections using a wide range of advanced measurement tools, including surface plates, height gages, gage blocks, sine bars, air gauging, and surface analyzers.
  • Execute first‑piece, in‑process, and conversion inspections to validate hardware quality and program changes.
  • Run Zeiss CMM programs to support inspection activities.
  • Apply advanced inspection techniques, such as geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T), trigonometry, blueprint interpretation, and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Support machinists with inspection equipment usage, blueprint interpretation, and general quality practices.
  • Drive waste reduction initiatives, contributing to lower scrap, rework, and processing delays.
