Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in food technology, food science, dairy science, microbiology, or chemistry or related field or similar work experience in related industry
  • 12+ years of quality experience in food manufacturing
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience
  • Knowledge of quality methods and techniques – including the HACCP concept of food safety, quality assurance standards, food laboratory testing methods and operations, and statistical process control techniques

Nice To Haves

  • Technical background in food technology, food science, dairy science, microbiology, or chemistry; related undergraduate or graduate degree
  • Dairy/Cheese manufacturing experience
  • Direct leadership experience over supervisors

Responsibilities

  • Leads and manages daily Quality operations, ensuring production and quality standards are met through effective staffing, scheduling, and supervision.
  • Drives employee engagement by coaching and developing the Quality team through training programs, performance recognition, and internal development initiatives.
  • Fosters a culture of safety and accountability, overseeing departmental safety programs, setting clear safety standards, and leading by example.
  • Oversees food safety and sanitation compliance, ensuring adherence to HACCP, SQF, and Corporate Quality policies, while coordinating customer issue resolution.
  • Educates plant personnel on Quality Systems, including documentation, lab practices, product grading, and compliance protocols.
  • Builds strong cross-functional relationships across the plant, promotes open communication, and develops strategies for addressing employee questions and concerns.
  • Manages department budget and efficiency, identifying cost-saving opportunities while maintaining product quality and achieving financial goals.
