About The Position

Develops, implements and manages quality assurance and food safety programs to prevent or eliminate defects in new or existing products.

Requirements

  • Experience in ISO 9000 or Food Safety program management
  • Bachelor’s degree or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred.
  • Prior supervisory experience with emphasis on leadership, supervision, motivation, communication and planning.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, work under pressure and meet deadlines as required in a fast-paced production environment

Responsibilities

  • Collects, organizes, monitors and distributes information to Packaging team related to quality assurance to ensure the overall understanding of quality procedures, requirements and processes.
  • Prepares and maintains customer specification sheets and reports as required by the customer.
  • Identifies, documents and tracks customer complaints and relays relevant information to operation manager.
  • Ensures that corrective and preventative actions regarding quality have been implemented, in a timely manner.
  • Documents all material quality issues and follows up, reports on and works with suppliers to resolve core issues.
  • Analyzes, evaluates and presents information concerning factors such as business situation, production capabilities, manufacturing issues, economic trends, design and development of new products for consideration by other members of management team.
  • Visits and communicates with vendors to obtain information related to supply quality, capacity of vendor to meet orders, and vendor quality standards.
  • Manually and visually tests material prior to production process.
  • Develops and maintains a productive work team through proper application of management skills in the hiring, coaching, training, and disciplinary action processes.
  • Directs production line staff to stop production based on quality issues.
  • Reviews technical publications, articles and abstracts to stay abreast of technical developments in the industry.
  • Oversees and assists in startup and production line changeover to new items to ensure overall quality processes are followed.
  • Reviews technical processes and procedures and recommends solutions to improve in operational goals.
  • Strives for continuous improvements in production process.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
