The Quality Manager is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all inspection activities within an FAA Part 145 Repair Station. This position ensures compliance with FAA regulations, company manuals, and manufacturer specifications, while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality. The Chief Inspector serves as the primary authority for quality control and airworthiness release.

  • Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure all maintenance and inspection activities comply with FAA Part 145 regulations, Repair Station Manual (RSM), and Quality Control Manual (QCM).
  • Maintain current knowledge of FAA regulations, Airworthiness Directives (ADs), and Service Bulletins (SBs).
  • Coordinate with FAA inspectors during audits and respond to findings promptly.
  • Inspection Oversight
  • Develop and implement inspection procedures for incoming, in-process, and final work.
  • Perform and supervise inspections of aircraft components, systems, and maintenance activities.
  • Exercise final inspection authority and sign off on return-to-service documentation.
  • Quality Assurance Program
  • Manage internal audits, supplier audits, and corrective actions.
  • Investigate discrepancies and implement preventive measures.
  • Review and approve maintenance releases, logbook entries, and work orders.
  • Leadership and Training
  • Supervise and mentor inspection personnel.
  • Provide training on inspection techniques, regulatory updates, and quality standards.
  • Assist in hiring and performance management of inspection staff.
  • Documentation and Recordkeeping
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, audits, and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure proper documentation and traceability of aircraft parts.
  • Oversee calibration records for precision tools and equipment.
  • Collaboration
  • Work closely with the Maintenance Manager and other departments to resolve quality issues.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and regulatory agencies.
  • FAA A&P Certificate
  • Maintenance experience, large transport category aircraft
  • Safety Management System & Quality Management System experience
  • Line & heavy check maintenance experience
  • Maintenance supervisor and or lead experience
  • Part 145 Repair Station operations experience
  • QC Inspector / RII experience
  • Quality Assurance experience
  • Strong knowledge of FAA regulations and guidance
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
