About The Position

The Quality Manager is responsible for leading and continuously improving Spectrum Control’s Quality Management System at the Delmar, DE facility across the full product lifecycle—from new product introduction through manufacturing, delivery, and customer support. This role drives quality assurance initiatives including continuous improvement activities, Lean initiatives, Statistical Process Control (SPC), failure analysis and corrective actions, and internal and external audits. The Quality Manager serves as a key partner to Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and customers, with a strong focus on customer issue resolution, data-driven problem solving, and team leadership. This position requires deep expertise in quality systems, regulatory compliance, and electronics manufacturing, with the ability to translate quality objectives into measurable results in a high-mix, regulated environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related technical discipline
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • 5–8 years of progressive experience in Quality, Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Experience in electronics manufacturing required
  • Working knowledge of electronic component manufacturing processes, raw materials, and test/control systems
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt required
  • Strong knowledge of quality systems, auditing, SPC, corrective action methodologies, and continuous improvement tools
  • Experience with structured problem-solving and failure analysis techniques
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and web-based quality systems
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and data-driven decision-making skills
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across engineering, manufacturing, supplier, and customer-facing teams
  • Ability to lead, influence, and train teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

  • Certified Quality Manager (CQM) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the site Quality Management System in compliance with ISO 9001 and AS9100 requirements.
  • Analyze quality performance trends and recommend corrective and preventive actions to ensure consistent product quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify, document, and maintain processes critical to quality, ensuring effective controls are implemented and sustained.
  • Coordinate and manage the flow of quality-related information between customers, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams.
  • Lead the processing of customer complaints, returns, and nonconformances, including failure analysis, root cause investigations, and corrective action development and communication.
  • Establish, maintain, and execute an internal audit program, including audit planning, auditor development, reporting, and follow-up.
  • Ensure purchased products meet organizational and customer requirements through supplier inspection, assessment of supplier capabilities, and ongoing supplier performance monitoring.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve quality standards, procedures, and controls aligned with Quality Objectives and KPI metrics.
  • Drive quality system improvements through review and analysis of KPI metrics, SPC data, internal audit results, corrective action effectiveness, CI initiatives, and customer scorecards.
  • Evaluate customer quality requirements and ensure they are clearly understood, implemented, and maintained throughout manufacturing and inspection processes.
  • Provide leadership and direction to ensure compliance with applicable customer requirements and government regulations related to product quality.
  • Ensure effective monitoring, control, calibration, and maintenance of measuring and test equipment.
  • Direct and support IPC and J-STD training for engineers and manufacturing assemblers to ensure workmanship and process compliance.
  • Lead initiatives focused on reducing cycle time, variation, and waste through continual process improvement.
  • Support ISO 9001 and AS9100 certification activities, including audit preparation and ongoing compliance.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop quality team members, promoting a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
