The 1st shift Quality Manager will inspect the final product to make sure it has been built in compliance with legal standards and meets customer expectations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Metallurgical, Mechanical, or Business Administration preferred.
  • Three to five years’ experience in a quality management position within a foundry.
  • Computer Literacy, Excel, and Word
  • Understanding of foundry operations and department functions.
  • Extensive knowledge of blueprint interpretation and casting design.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as the company’s Customer Representative and Management Representative.
  • Responsible for the supervision of the Quality Control Coordinator, Quality Assurance Engineer/Supervisor, Plant Metallurgist, and the employees reporting to these individuals.
  • Responsible for completing and maintaining all requirements that are necessary to conform to a Quality Management and Quality Assurance Standard as modeled by TS 16949.
  • Work with the Plant Manager and Quality Control Coordinator on constantly reducing the in-house and customer return scrap.
  • Responsible for accompanying customers as they perform on-site surveys.
  • Responsible for a certain amount of customer service, including visiting customer facilities, as directed by the General Manager.
  • Work with the Quality Assurance Engineer/Supervisor on implementing and maintaining statistical techniques and training throughout the operations where applicable.
  • Responsible for written correspondence with the customers concerning survey results, customer-rejected material, and other technical matters.
  • Responsible for writing and revising the Quality Control Manual and Quality System Manual.
  • Responsible for writing procedures and formulating the necessary documentation to meet our customers’ expectations of their castings.
  • Responsible for maintaining the Cost of Quality process.
  • Participate in the plant training program involving quality and technology.
  • Perform all duties requested by the General Manager.
  • Monitor the maintenance and content of the following: Gage Control Program Auditing of suppliers and subcontractors Auditing of procedures Statistical techniques Flow charts, control plans, and FMEAs Quality Improvement process Dimensional controls In-process instructions and audits Final inspection Mechanical and physical properties of the iron Metallurgical equipment
