Job Description Hoffman Construction is seeking a Quality Manager. This individual will be an integral member of the on-site Quality Department, providing essential support throughout the lifecycle of a hyper-scaled data center construction project. Reporting to the High-Tech Program Quality Manager, the role will work closely with site leadership and cross-functional teams to manage day-to-day site activities, verify compliance with contract documents, and uphold safety, quality standards and design intent. The Quality Manager plays a critical leadership role, directing trade partners, supervisors, and field staff across multiple scopes in a complex mission-critical environment. The position requires experience in managing high-volume structural, CSA, and MEP scopes in parallel with the ability to anticipate challenges and proactively resolve coordination issues in the field. This position will be fully at the project site near Queen Creek, AZ.

Requirements

  • We are looking for a flexible, detail-oriented team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks, produce quality work, and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Minimum 5 years’ construction and/or building design experience in one or more of the following categories preferred: on-site construction management; structural, mechanical, electrical, or architectural design (no license required).
  • Proven experience managing concurrent scopes involving structural steel, large-scaled MEP systems, generator yards, duct banks, and underground and overhead utilities is preferred.
  • OSHA 30 Certification.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor of science in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, structural engineering, construction management or equivalent degree and/or equivalent craft level work experience.
  • A strong commitment to safety compliance with OSHA standards and site-specific requirements.
  • Ability to work closely with trade and craft people in a field work situation.
  • Patience and professionalism are essential to being able to maintain a cooperative attitude through pressure situations.
  • Ability to manage several work activities at once while frequently interrupted by phone calls and urgent questions on work in progress.
  • Advanced visual observation and interpretation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; must be able to work closely with clients, architects, engineers, equipment manufacturers, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Must be a dedicated team player, self-starter, flexible and able to work well with a variety of personalities and minimal instruction.
  • Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations is required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam.
  • Strong working knowledge of project management and scheduling software such as Prolog, Procore, and Building Information Model (BIM360).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate all field construction activities, including civil, structural, architectural and MEP trades, collaborating closely with project engineers, construction managers, building superintendents and other field superintendents.
  • Manage the Quality Team to ensure high performance, alignment with project goals, and seamless integration with overall construction operations.
  • Direct the daily work of multiple QA/QC Programs.
  • Drive execution of reviewing and approval trade contractor QA/QC Programs to ensure alignment with general contractor and client program requirements.
  • Monitor and review design documents to identify constructability errors or omissions.
  • Lead work groups to meet quality standards of Hoffman Construction and the project.
  • Ensure strict adherence to project-specific safety protocols and participate in safety audits and incident investigations.
  • Coach site staff in conducting inspections and convey Hoffman Quality standards of practice to site teams.
  • Investigate, understand, and convey technical product properties and how they interact.
  • Must be able to interpret and implement proper installations in compliance with all local authority permitting, codes, and site specifications.
  • Facilitate contractor activity ensuring performance to all contractual agreements.
  • Assist with management project staffing.
  • Provide clear communication, verbally, written, and electronically.
  • Collaborate closely with clients, architects, engineers, consultants, and subcontractors.
