Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Quality Assurance or Food Safety within a food manufacturing environment.
  • Must have proven experience managing Quality Assurance in a food manufacturing plant regulated by FDA or USDA, with demonstrated expertise in implementing and maintaining GFSI-recognized schemes such as SQF, BRC, or FSSC 22000.
  • Demonstrated team leadership, or supervisory experience; 3+ year of manager experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, lead, and maintain site Quality and Food Systems in alignment with the United States Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and Flora Food Group standards.
  • Lead the cross-functional Food Safety Team and ensure the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of a robust, compliant food safety program.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for all decisions related to site quality assurance, food safety, and compliance programs.
  • Manage microbiological programs and address microbiological concerns proactively.
  • Ensure all products meet or exceed defined quality and regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, including third-party audits such as AIB and FSSC 22000 and regulatory inspections, and prepare documentation and corrective actions.
  • Manage statistical analysis and monitoring of quality metrics and KPIs Such as Cost of Non-Quality, Right the First time, complaints per Million Units Sold and microbiological trends.
  • Provide strategic leadership and day-to-day supervision for the department, ensuring effective management of all team members and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive continuous improvement through WCM methodologies, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Utilize continuous improvement strategies to reduce complaints and product non‑conformances.
  • Maximize product consistency through process control, specification adherence, and operational discipline.
  • Minimize line overfill and optimize recipe dosing to reduce raw material variances and losses.
  • Champion Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and SHE initiatives across the site.
  • Partner with production teams to build quality awareness and deliver training.
  • Participate as a member of the site leadership team, integrating Quality into all operational decisions.
  • Coordinate quality‑related activities and projects with warehouses, procurement, supply planning, contractors, and R&D.
  • Provide technical information and feedback related to product inquiries or consumer complaints.
  • Lead the cross-functional Food Safety Team and ensure the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of a robust, compliant food safety program.
  • Hire, develop, and manage the site Quality team, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
  • Support regional and export markets to ensure compliance with all quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other projects and duties as assigned to support site and organizational goals.
