About The Position

The Quality Manager at Signal Metal is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the quality of products throughout the production process by developing and implementing quality control procedures, training and overseeing Inspectors performing inspections, analyzing data, and collaborating with manufacturing to identify and resolve quality issues, ensuring products consistently meet company standards and customer expectations.

Requirements

  • 5–10 years of quality or inspection experience in heavy steel fabrication or welding
  • High school diploma or equivalent at minimum
  • Knowledge and experience with quality/inspection processes such as VT, MT, UT, PT, RT, Phased Array and quality procedures and quality audits
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant NDT techniques and their applications
  • Familiar with AWS D1.1, ASME, and NACE requirements
  • Knowledge of welding symbols, the ability to read and interpret fabrication mechanical drawings.
  • Must understand relationships of sectional cut-outs of drawings, and when/how to utilize geometrical tolerances and measurements with reference to datums
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and strong problem-solving ability

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as a Quality Manger, Quality Lead, or Senior Inspector preferred
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) is a plus
  • AutoCAD knowledge a plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead and improve quality processes
  • Oversee inspection activities, support and train Inspectors
  • Interpret fabrication, machining drawings and blueprints
  • Monitor welder qualification tests and visual weld exams, to both AWS D1.1 as well as ASME Sec. IX.
  • Maintain Welder Training records.
  • Ensure Inspectors are completing Welder Training and completing training records.
  • Publish Welder Personal Qualification Records.
  • Maintain Signal Metal and various Customer Welder Continuity Logs.
  • Develop and maintain Welder Continuity Logs and Qualification Records
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Fabrication shop, Clients and Production supervisors to resolve quality concerns
  • Write and maintain weld procedures and inspection reports
  • Read and understand written specifications for job orders, Client Specifications
  • Organize and maintain client quality documentation packages and records
  • Contribute to internal quality audits and support customer audits as needed
  • Develop process improvements
  • Support the company’s safety policies and safe welding practices
  • Maintain and update Quality Manual, SOP’s, and Work Instructions
