About The Position

The Quality Assurance Manager is the scientific expert for both the supplier and customer community specializing in assuring Food Safety and Product Quality programs. Location: Open to candidates in the Northeast region (Philadelphia, NYC, or DC areas preferred)Job Responsibilities The QA Manager is fully responsible for the management and administration of all quality programs in their assigned region. Utilizing education and product knowledge work quickly and efficiently to resolve quality and safety related issues as reported by contracting, purchasing, suppliers and customers. Perform Food Safety audits utilizing expertise in GFSI audit requirements, HARPC/HACCP regulations, and Food Security measures. Partner with suppliers to develop new and emerging food safety technologies. Consult with vendors on proper facility construction, process flow, and microbiological testing. Conduct critical Supply Chain assessments on Avendra suppliers in the form of Meet the Truck Audits. At the point of delivery use observation and experience to determine if products have been temperature abused, properly staged to prevent cross-contamination, are wholesome, within shelf-life, and within the Avendra product quality specifications. Evaluate, consult and follow through on all critical observances in Third Party based audits. Analyze contracted products for adherence to product quality specifications including, but not limited to, appearance, organoleptics, weight, adulteration, and preparation. Corrective actions are required to be obtained for all major observances. Work with various local, state, federal, and industry representatives to be apprised of all food safety regulations within your jurisdiction. Accomplish other objectives as specified by the Regional Director of Quality Assurance including program management, consulting, and marketing/communications. Perform all administrative tasks required of the position. QualificationsExperience in quality assurance and a BA/BS degree in Food Science, Culinary Arts, Restaurant Management, Food Microbiology, or related field. Comfort with work in an empowered independent atmosphere. Ability to make key decisions independently and communicate well both verbally and in writing. Thirty percent travel required.

Requirements

  • Experience in quality assurance and a BA/BS degree in Food Science, Culinary Arts, Restaurant Management, Food Microbiology, or related field.
  • Comfort with work in an empowered independent atmosphere.
  • Ability to make key decisions independently and communicate well both verbally and in writing.
  • Thirty percent travel required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a quality assurance discipline.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate work is preferred.
  • PCQI and GFSI audit scheme certifications preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish is preferred.
