About The Position

The Quality Manager provides leadership, coordination, guidance, and technical expertise in all areas of quality. Responsible for the overall daily operations of quality, the manager develops and administers quality-related policies, procedures, techniques, and initiatives to ensure that all quality policies and practices are followed consistently on the project. This role involves working closely with project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors to develop processes and procedures that accomplish the goal of 100% compliant work that exceeds expectations. The Quality Manager acts as an advocate for Yates Construction by maintaining good corporate ethics and promoting quality as a core value of the organization.

Requirements

  • An associate or undergraduate university degree or higher in Quality Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or a closely related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of construction experience in quality control supervision.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of industrial and/or commercial construction experience.
  • Experience with large/complex quality plan implementation.
  • In-depth knowledge of Construction Standards and Best Practices.
  • Working knowledge of the International Building Code.
  • Computer skills using Procore, Viewpoint, SharePoint, MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Works with project manager, superintendents, and subcontractors in developing processes and procedures for compliant work.
  • Collaborates with project team and subcontractors.
  • Maintains active relationships with engineers, consultants, and industry associations.
  • Assists teams with developing a project-specific quality management plan.
  • Supports and follows up to ensure project teams adhere to their quality management plan.
  • Builds and maintains system templates for various DFOW activities.
  • Prepares DFOW for projects as required in the Quality Management Plan.
  • Participates in project meetings and conducts site visits and inspections.
  • Assists teams with plan and constructability reviews.
  • Reads and understands specifications, reference codes, and standards.
  • Reviews and interprets contract drawings.
  • Provides training and coaching for project team members on quality risks.
  • Assists teams with risk prevention planning and follow-up.
  • Works closely with the Quality and Construction Science Department to utilize advancements in technology.
  • Acts independently as CQCM while coordinating all QC functions.
  • Documents deficiencies and ensures timely corrections.
  • Maintains records of quality control activities and tests performed.
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner.
  • Reviews shop drawings and submittals for conformance.
  • Initiates three-phase inspection process.
  • Conducts daily observations to ensure inspections are implemented.
  • Examines work areas to assure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Conducts and chairs preparatory meetings.
  • Chairs and documents weekly QC meetings with stakeholders.
  • Verifies and documents that project materials conform to approved submittals.
  • Oversees daily and weekly QC/QA reports.
