About The Position

The Quality Manager 1 leads the Quality function of the organization with full accountability for ensuring product conformity, customer satisfaction, and aerospace compliance. This leader drives the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality systems and processes that achieve zero defects, meet regulatory and customer requirements, and support company growth. The Quality Manager fosters a culture of quality excellence through training, performance metrics, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Quality Manger is expected to have 3-5 direct reports (includes 1 Quality supervisor with 3-5 direct reports).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related technical field
  • Minimum 3–7 years of progressive quality leadership experience in aerospace or high-precision manufacturing
  • Strong working knowledge of AS9100, NADCAP, and root cause problem-solving tools
  • Proven success leading quality teams and managing complex customer requirements
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE), or equivalent
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Background in forging, metalworking, or heavy manufacturing processes

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with AS9100 requirements and other applicable aerospace standards.
  • Lead internal and external audits, including supplier and customer audits; ensure timely closure of audit findings and corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with customer specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Define and implement quality planning strategies, including First Article Inspection (FAI), Control Plans, PFMEAs, inspection criteria, and process controls.
  • Oversee incoming inspection, in-process inspection, final inspection, and product release.
  • Partner with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to resolve quality issues and drive long-term corrective/preventive action.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for customer quality matters, including nonconformances, corrective action requests, and quality agreements.
  • Lead supplier quality assurance activities, including qualification, performance monitoring, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Support supplier development and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Drive Root Cause Analysis and corrective/preventive actions using structured problem-solving tools (8D, 5 Whys, etc.).
  • Implement quality metrics, dashboards, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor performance and promote visibility.
  • Lead or support cross-functional teams in Lean, Six Sigma, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop quality personnel; promote training, certification, and career growth.
  • Ensure all quality staff are trained on procedures, inspection equipment, measurement systems, and regulatory requirements.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous learning.
