About The Position

The Engineer for Quality Management Systems is responsible for the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Marine Components Quality Management System to ensure all products are manufactured to the highest industry quality standards suitable for their intended use, while maintaining ISO 9001 requirements.

Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years experience in Quality Management Systems and Performed as a Quality Engineer.
  • Proficiency in all AIAG Requirements/ISO 9001 Requirements/Root Cause Analysis/ ABYC/NMMA/USCG and CE standards.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an applied science or engineering field; or 5-10 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate and present ideas to management team and peers.
  • Must be proficient in providing direction to shop personnel to troubleshoot manufacturing issues in production area.
  • Organized, detail oriented, self-motivated team player with hands on work ethic.
  • Must be proficient in the use of computers and use of company-wide software programs: Microsoft Office Excel, PowerPoint, Word
  • Willing to perform other tasks as necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience with formal quality systems, understanding of Lean / Six Sigma and any pertinent certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the effort to create and define procedures, audits, work standards, etc. to ensure compliance to ISO 9001 and all applicable marine requirements.
  • Developing, defining, administering, tracking and reporting on quality systems and quality controls designed to drive excellence in execution of quality. Where needed, develop the tools or procedures necessary for this purpose, which may include Calibration of gages, measurement systems, etc.
  • Responsible for budgeting and reporting on areas of the P&L that relate to Quality Management System, measurement systems, Calibration, etc. to ensure appropriate financial planning, reporting and budget attainment.
  • Continually collect, monitor, analyze and report out on assigned segments of quality KPI’s to ensure and monitor performance against internal quality standards, as assigned. Drive insights that create targeted actions for corrective actions, continuous improvement, training or other means necessary to drive performance attainment or improvement.
  • Partner with all functional areas throughout the business to ensure that quality results, initiatives, areas of focus, and necessary actions are understood. Ensure their execution and resolution are supported to support compliance to ISO 9001 and our internal requirements.
  • Act as lead auditor and authority of the Quality Management System and support all external and internal audits.
  • Develop Quality Documents and perform Quality Engineering activities on different processes, as assigned.
  • Directly interface with customers that have issues or concerns from your assigned products, and work diligently to resolve them, while implementing interim corrective actions.
  • Lead the effort to determine root cause analysis and implement corrective actions as assigned.
  • Partner with engineering, purchasing, and our vendors to set quality standards or resolve incoming quality issues.
  • Ensure all aspects of the product are in compliance with the USCG / NMMA / ABYC / CE / NHTSA and other applicable standards bodies. Responsible for the administration of any bulletins, notices, recalls or other product, if needed.
