About The Position

The Quality Management Specialist for Quality Hospital Accreditation at the University of Miami is responsible for ensuring the hospital meets accreditation standards and regulatory requirements. This role involves collaboration with healthcare professionals to facilitate accreditation readiness, manage quality improvement initiatives, and maintain compliance with various healthcare standards. The specialist will also support the development and implementation of quality management plans and provide training on new regulations to stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Health Science, Public Health, Health Informatics, or a related healthcare field.
  • State of Florida Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) license, or ability to obtain licensure within six months.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Minimum 1 year clinical nurse work experience in a healthcare environment.
  • At least 2 years direct experience in Healthcare Quality and a minimum of 6 months in hospital accreditation.
  • Public speaking experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Working knowledge of accreditation and regulatory standards applicable to hospitals.

  • Experience in clinical database coordination and team/task force development.
  • Experience in quality assurance and data collection.

Responsibilities

  • Perform accreditation readiness activities for internal mock-surveys and required accreditation activities.
  • Facilitate continuous readiness in collaboration with healthcare quality colleagues and management.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to ensure national measures and standards are met.
  • Develop, review, prepare, and implement accreditation readiness activities.
  • Maintain a written Quality Management Plan and related policies and procedures in compliance with TJC and other regulatory standards.
  • Direct the timely submission of patient care data for patient satisfaction and TJC.
  • Analyze findings and implement interventions to improve quality outcomes and patient satisfaction.
  • Manage databases and resources for necessary documentation and communication.
  • Ensure communication and training of new standards and regulations to stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the Quality Management leadership team.
  • Maintain knowledge of accreditation, regulatory, licensing, and other standards applicable to hospitals and clinics.
  • Provide support for general functions of the department as requested.
