About The Position

Lighthouse Lab Services seeks a Quality Lab Manager to serve a client in the greater Toms River, NJ area. The Client Based in the Toms River, NJ metro area, the client is the leading contract manufacturer of dietary supplements, providing end-to-end services from formulation and analytical testing to production, packaging, and distribution. In the role of Quality Laboratory Manager the ideal candidate will oversee the laboratory’s Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring all testing, documentation, training, and reporting meet both regulatory and company standards. This role supports compliance, continuous improvement, and quality assurance across all laboratory and production activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field (Chemistry, Biology, or related).
  • 5+ years of experience in a quality role within a lab or production environment (nutraceuticals, supplements, or pharma preferred).
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO standards (ISO 9000, ISO 17025).
  • Experience training staff and managing inspections across production and lab operations.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Hands-on problem-solving, analytical, and investigative skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs and work safely in a laboratory and manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve the laboratory’s quality systems in compliance with ISO 9000 and ISO 17025.
  • Oversee calibration, standardization, method verification/validation, and proficiency testing programs.
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Track and report lab Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as turnaround time and analysis accuracy.
  • Serve as the primary contact for internal and external audits.
  • Partner with management for safety committee activities and reviews.
  • Provide input on procurement of quality-critical lab supplies.
  • Oversee sample process to the Quality Lab and manage retention samples.
  • Ensure downtime and quality-related notes are properly documented in batch records.
  • Instruct and train quality inspectors and operators on procedures and inspection methods.
  • Ensure all plant operators are trained in quality expectations for their roles.
  • Verify required quality personnel are available to perform inspections for all production lines on every shift.
  • Ensure all training records are completed and maintained according to SOPs.
  • Support and conduct annual SOP, GMP, and GDP training across all departments.
  • Assist in investigations related to customer complaints, providing necessary information.
  • Ensure timely review of production batch records by quality personnel.
  • Systematically place items on hold and release as appropriate, communicating actions to facility leadership.
  • Communicate quality defects directly to the Director as needed.
  • Maintain adherence to SOPs, GMPs, GDPs, and company policies.
  • Support and develop team members, promoting a culture of continuous learning and accountability.
  • Demonstrate commitment by maintaining reliable, on-site attendance.
  • Complete all required training activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
