About The Position
We are recruiting for a Quality Lab Technician near the Batavia, NY area. This is an entry-level opportunity, and recent graduates are encouraged to apply. The role involves conducting microbiological, chemical, and physical testing of incoming raw materials, work in process, and finished goods. The technician will be responsible for ensuring the quality of products through various testing methods and maintaining accurate records of all testing results. The technician will pull samples and test all inventory for quality, rerunning tests if any out-of-limit conditions are present or if testing results do not meet specified parameters. All testing results must be entered into the internal laboratory management system, and the technician will also print out Tank Status sheets and check the temperatures of tanks, reporting any discrepancies to the supervisor. Additionally, the technician will test raw blends as needed, make necessary alterations, and retest to ensure compliance with quality standards. Other responsibilities include checking finished products for various quality metrics such as fats, solids, pH, viscosities, and temperature, recording all results, and rechecking if necessary. The technician will perform shelf life studies as time permits, dispose of sample products and backup inventory following proper protocols, and autoclave equipment while ensuring spore control is run weekly. Swab testing for startup on equipment will also be required to verify sterility, along with performing various titrations and preparing weekly whey composite samples for analysis. The technician will plate samples, complete matching paperwork, and update all files related to samples.
