What You’ll Do General Responsibilities: The Quality Lab Technician (QLT) will work in a highly functioning team environment that provides quality support to the 24/5+ production operations at Lenox. The QLT’s on our team collect and inspect daily samples from the processes and report timely results back to operations. When something is not up to our high standards, the QLT raises the issue and works with operations to seek the cause and get it corrected. As our operations continue to develop and change, the QLT is a key player helping to sustain best quality practices, driving effective Quality Assurance and continuous improvement. Requirements

  • 2-year college technical degree preferred, but relevant factory/quality experience may qualify you.
  • A positive team player is essential, a desire to continue to learn will ensure your success
  • Metallurgical knowledge preferred.
  • Operation of advanced inspection equipment: Micro-Vu, CMM, Alicona, Keyence and future new equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic Quality terms, definitions, concepts and techniques e.g. understanding difference between accuracy and precision; control methodology such as statistical process control (SPC)
  • Knowledge of testing methods.
  • Technical report writing skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel & Outlook required).
  • Experience with ISO/QS documentation and requirements.
  • Dimensional and performance analysis on New Product Development programs (NPD).
  • Able to read and interpret drawings using a general knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT).
  • Contribute both independently, as well as in team situations, by possessing technical aptitude, basic problem-solving skills, conflict resolution abilities, prioritization mastery, and demonstrated leadership.
  • Operations experience in the East Longmeadow facility is a plus!
  • Use of lab measurement equipment: Comparators, microscopes, micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, hardness testing, and the ability to create and analyze metallurgical mounts.

Responsibilities

  • Inspection of incoming raw, scheduled and unscheduled in-process, and finished materials and products.
  • Documenting and communicating inspection results, following up on issues/questions where needed.
  • Reporting non-conformant in-process material and assisting with containment.
  • Provide investigative lab support for new product development, productivity and process change activities.
  • Final process / product inspection and audits.
  • Participate in Internal Audits of Manufacturing Processes.
  • Participate in regular maintenance and calibration of inspection methods and test equipment.
  • Development and documentation of new inspection and measurement processes.
