About The Position

The Quality Lab Technician is responsible for the accurate and timely completion of routine testing by following established SOP’s. This position is also responsible for calibration and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment and for ordering supplies used by the lab. This position will support quality audits, change management processes, investigations, customer complaints and corrective actions for quality. This position is Monday - Friday, 2:00 - 10:00 p.m.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED with 3+ years of relevant experience .
  • Knowledgeable of and proficient in basic laboratory test methods and analytical techniques.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and safety focused.
  • Ability to complete tasks with little supervision.
  • Ability to work through change while maintaining a positive attitude.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree (or higher degree) in Laboratory Science, Chemistry or related science field
  • 2-3 years of laboratory experience in an industrial setting highly desired.
  • Strong team orientation and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with internal customers and team members.
  • Capable of working in a flexible, often shifting environment.
  • Ability to prioritize dynamic workload.

Responsibilities

  • Complete lab testing accurately and on time to ensure all raw materials and products meet required specifications and as business needs require.
  • Test incoming product in a timely fashion and according to established SOPs/protocols and take immediate action with product which does not meet specifications.
  • Report accurate and timely data, including the generation of Certificates of Analysis (COAs). Enter all required data for testing and equipment calibration as called for in SOPs/protocols.
  • Operate in a manner that always is compliant with health, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Participate as a member of/lead projects and teams to improve quality, testing and operating efficiencies.
  • Calibrate and maintain lab equipment. Tasks include, but are not limited to: Checking and replace instrument gas cylinders as needed. Performing routine maintenance of analytical instrumentation.
  • Maintain testing and instrument areas to be in a clean and organized fashion.
  • Mindful of personal safety of self and others as well as chemical stewardship.
  • Order supplies in a timely fashion and restock general use supplies as needed.
  • Support an effective Change Management program across the Aspen site which ensures all systems and processes remain in a validated status.
  • Facilitate and ensure Quality Investigations are clear, concise, and supported by sound technical justification leading to an Assignable Root Cause and which have been conducted in collaboration with Operations, Commercialization, and Logistics associates as appropriate. Work closely with Quality Manager to solve any process abnormalities.
  • Manage timely and effective Corrective and Preventive Action program.
  • Lead improvement of lab processes, procedures, SOPs and testing methods, either by self or with others.
  • Assist with method transfers for new products.
  • Be aware of the relevant requirements of the Responsible Care Management System (RC-14001) and follow plant procedures to ensure compliance to requirements.
  • Understand the RC-14001 Significant Aspects of your job and help ensure controls are in place to reduce or eliminate negative impacts.
  • Minimize waste, prevent pollution and conserve energy while performing job tasks.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of the environmental, health, safety, security and Responsible Care performance and programs.
