About The Position

The Quality Lab Technician performs routine laboratory testing to ensure that raw materials, in-process bulk batches, and finished products meet established quality standards and specifications. This role is responsible for accurately preparing samples, conducting analytical and microbiological tests as directed, documenting results according to Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs), and maintaining a clean, orderly lab environment. The Technician works closely with the Quality Control Manager to ensure timely and precise reporting of data in support of production schedules and customer requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 1-3 years of experience in a quality control or manufacturing laboratory preferred
  • Understanding of basic laboratory testing and measurement techniques
  • Ability to follow SOPs, methods, and documentation protocols consistently
  • Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs) and safety guidelines
  • Data entry and documentation accuracy
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to manage multiple sample/testing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to ~25 lbs when handling materials
  • Frequent handling of laboratory reagents, media, and samples

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or related science preferred
  • Experience in cosmetics, personal care, pharmaceutical, or food manufacturing desirable

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine laboratory testing (e.g., pH, viscosity, specific gravity, appearance, odor, microbial sampling, etc.) on raw materials, in-process batches, and finished goods. Document results according to SOPs and GLPs.
  • Prepare, label, and maintain samples and retain inventories. Perform media preparation and assist with microbiological test setup as needed. Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of samples and materials.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and work areas. Conduct routine calibration checks, equipment log entries, and alert the Supervisor to malfunctions or deviations.
  • Enter test results into quality systems, batch records, and laboratory databases accurately and in a timely manner. Communicate out-of-spec results immediately to Supervisor/Quality Manager.
  • Follow all laboratory safety requirements and gowning procedures.
  • Assist with root cause investigations and corrective/preventive actions when needed.
  • Support continuous improvement activities and participate in training and team meetings.
  • Perform other duties as required to support departmental goals.
