What you will be doing: Produce and maintain high quality syrup supply to can and bottle filling line through consistent and accurate batching procedures and support continuous improvement, and First Pass Quality Initiative. The position will be based in Denver, CO. This position requires the successful candidate to join the union. Competitive Wages – The pay range is $24.80/hr to $31.00/hr Starting rates will vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Additional premiums for swing and grave shifts are available. Dependent on length of service, hours worked, and any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability insurance, optional life insurance, sick pay, vacation pay, paid holidays, bereavement pay and retirement benefits. Shift – is subjected to the collective bargaining agreement but is an evening (potentially 2:30pm to 11pm) to a night shift (3:30pm to 2am).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Three years’ experience in quality assurance or a similar role in food production is preferred.
  • Strong mindfulness and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with quality control procedures and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and duties as they relate to food safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Effective communication and documentation skills.
  • Flexibility to work the specified shift and occasionally on weekends if required.
  • Good analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Able to multi-task in fast paced environment with limited supervision.
  • Proficient in window-based PC programs.
  • Lab Test Equipment/Maintenance.
  • Knowledge of HACCP/Food Safety preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Control Drinks Prepare control drinks for each tank of syrup.
  • Perform Testing as required, following Analytical Procedures Laboratory Analysis and support Perform lab testing such as Brix, Titratable Acidity Carbonation pH Taste Odor Appearance Net Contents Sodium Content headspace dissolved oxygen HPCL chemicals.
  • Perform on –going shelf-life assessments for finished products as scheduled.
  • Perform receiving procedures.
  • Perform Seam Full and Abbreviated Seam inspections as scheduled.
  • Perform Removal Torque testing for PET packaged products as scheduled.
  • Participate in Lean and Five S laboratory practices.
  • Gather, assemble, and ship out samples as required by outside customers.
  • Gather, assemble, and store retention and ongoing shelf-life samples as scheduled.
  • Perform lab start up and shut down procedures.
  • Report any compromised ingredients, significant spills, or out of standard conditions to Microbiological Testing Gather, prepare, and plate raw materials, work in progress and finished product.
  • Samples follow specific microbial testing SOP and document on appropriate process.
  • Control forms. Swab process equipment and run ATP swabs as instructed on specific SOP’s and Document on appropriate process control forms.
  • Calibration Monitor and document equipment calibration and maintenance.
  • Water Treatment Run backwash of carbon filtration units.
  • Run backwash of green sand filtration units.
  • Perform Free Chlorine and Alkalinity testing where applicable.
  • Perform Iron residual testing, where applicable.
  • Perform RO pre-treatment and sodium metabisulfite residual.
  • Monitor and maintain water treatment chemicals.
  • Break Relief Duties While relieving Syrup Technician, make a tank(s) of syrup, scale up next batch and fill the ingredient bins/carts.
  • While relieving fellow Can/Bottle Line Technicians perform routine line checks, prepare control drinks, and perform change overs as they are due.
  • Other Skills/Abilities Participate in continuous process improvement and RCA processes as directed.
  • Rotate chilled and ambient concentrates and ingredients when new lots arrive, ensuring FIFO.
  • Maintain proper lot rotation and organization when pulling raw materials and concentrates from the warehouse and address spills or compromised packages promptly.
