See how your contributions will help transform vision into reality: Position Overview: The Quality Lab Technician is a key member of the Quality team and will be involved in quality investigations, process improvement, and driving change throughout the manufacturing value stream. The Quality Lab Technician is responsible for managing plant metrology process, product identification and traceability, performing quality lab duties, investigating and managing internal and external complaints, performing First Article Inspection, managing document control and assisting in whenever needed to further the cause of quality. Requirements

  • 2- 4 yr degree in mfg. or technical field (preferred)
  • Two years or relevant experience in Quality Assurance and/or Manufacturing or Engineering
  • Proficient in applying APQP/PPAP principles
  • Review and approve 1st article inspections
  • Develop Control/Inspection plans for new and existing products
  • Gage R&R/Capabilities (set-up, schedule, and analysis)
  • Manage plant and lab metrology processes
  • Direct experience and knowledge of how to solve problems at their root, specifically as is related to quality (CARs/SCARs)
  • Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable.

Responsibilities

  • Perform plant metrology scope activities
  • Manage HPPD deliverables (1st article, PPAP)
  • Perform Gage R & R capability studies
  • Provide on the ground support for investigating quality issues, escalating problems when needed and recommendations for improvements or product dispositions.
  • Analyze, investigate, and resolve supplier issues and customer complaints.
  • Oversee plant document control system including managing any necessary updates.
  • Assist in developing and documenting standard operating procedures (SOP’s) for quality processes.
  • Document CTQ’s and implementation into production processes, audits, and inspection (parts processes)
  • Knowledge of and operation of FARO arm and Polyworks software for FAI, SQS, and line production issues.
  • Leads the internal parts nonconformance process and data entry
  • Administers the SCS software for calibration and torque control for facility
  • Handles quality measurement tools: Phase II hardness tester, hand measurement tools, etc.
  • Learn and understand functional roles within the EQMS NCM, CA, Doc Control, etc.
  • Performs foam and paint sampling weekly and for new process changes, assists other BG facilities in testing
  • Utilize data from AV/AP to identify ongoing issues with product and process
  • Work with area supervisors, leads, and facilitators to identify quality issues that need further review ie engineering help, ME, etc.
  • Audit the following as necessary and defined: New Proto/Eng. Parts New employee validation New/improved machinery parts Scheduled parts audit Supplied parts, as requested
  • Actively participate in A3, 5S+1 activities
  • Work with engineering and quality to define and implement CTQ’s
  • Encourages safe behavior and 5S housekeeping activities.
  • Maintains daily communication with supply and customer departments
  • Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.
