About The Position

At SA Photonics, A CACI Company, we specialize in the design, development, and manufacturing of complex, state-of-the-art systems for military, space, and commercial applications. Our products include both optical and RF systems as well as sophisticated image processing & visualization systems. SA Photonics has a small team of highly experienced engineers and scientists who work in tight-knit groups on state of the art projects while enjoying a good work-life balance. We are currently looking for a Quality Inspector with at 7+ years’ experience to join our team.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in electrical, mechanical, or electro-mech inspection for an electronics manufacturer
  • Experience inspecting mechanical, and electrical (PCBAs, cables, etc..) items.
  • Able to use standard measurement and inspection tools including pin gauges, calipers, visual inspection system, microscope, etc…
  • Knowledge of ESD S20.20 and generally accepted good practice for ESD control
  • Organized.

  • Able to multi-task and reprioritize as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with satellites or other flight hardware a plus
  • Experience inspecting optical parts (lenses, mirrors, prisms) a plus.
  • IPC Certification a plus -- J-STD 001, or IPC-610, or IPC-620

Responsibilities

  • Inspect custom fabricated mechanical parts and electrical assemblies (PCBAs and cables) using industry-appropriate methods, such as comparing to standards, measuring dimensions and examining functionality
  • Conduct first article inspections for new items, in-process, and final inspections in manufacturing and/or shipping as needed
  • Record inspection results by completing reports, summarizing results, and adding data into the quality management system database; Communicate inspection results and offer continual improvement suggestions
  • Confirm that assembly or production line adheres to standards and procedures, complying with legal requirements.
  • Review production work instructions to ensure correctness and completeness
  • Monitor production operations to ensure conformance to company specifications
  • Ensure the integrity of the end-item-data-package (EIDP) for all delivered space-flight terminals
  • Identify and implement process improvements, (ex: mistake-proofing) to improve overall throughput
