About The Position

The Quality Inspector will provide technical expertise in the day-to-day department operations. Responsible for performing inspections of products and documentation of results to maintain product quality. Inspections may be conducted from receipt of product at facility through final shipment to customer, as well as inspection of returned parts from customers. Create Discrepant Material Reports when supplier recourse is necessary, and log information into appropriate databases.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Some college or technical training preferred.
  • 3+ years as an inspector, preferably in a lead role.
  • Ability to read and accurately interpret drawings and related technical specifications. This may include temporary deviations, engineering change notices, and other documentation as needed.
  • Experience using all forms of measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, verniers and gauges, and a FARO Arm or other Coordinate Measuring Machine.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written, with internal and external customers and suppliers.
  • Good computer skills, with the ability to learn, utilize, and understand all internal maintenance systems including Lotus Notes, BASIS, and Microsoft Suite.
  • Have excellent attendance and be highly self-motivated.
  • Exhibit attention to detail and take pride and ownership in your work.
  • Well organized, flexible to change, and understanding of the needs of the business.
  • Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time in a shop environment.
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 70 lbs.
  • May be required to pass color perception appraisal test.

Nice To Haves

  • Training in a quality discipline, with an ASQ Inspector Certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and disposition product to blueprint or drawing, using various measurement equipment. Maintain required quality records and workmanship standards (customer or engineering signed off samples).
  • Assist Quality Supervisor with investigation of field issues, including measurement and sorting of product from the warehouse.
  • Relabel, rework, or scrap product that is found defective or damaged in the warehouse and/or assembly department.
  • Ensure measurement and test equipment remain operational to standards, and perform other miscellaneous department tasks as needed.
