About The Position

The Quality Inspector is responsible for assuring the successful processing of quality product and services complying to specifications and requirements. This position will act as the eyes of the customer and will play a vital role in communicating findings and ensuring all quality processes support the needs of the customer and CMP collectively.

Requirements

  • Familiar with and experience in a mechanical fabrication environment similar to CMP-AMS.
  • Excellent blue print reading/interpretation skills.
  • Good understanding of GD&T (preferred).
  • Proficient in Microsoft office suite and with good computer and typing skills.
  • Ability to use wide range of precision measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, height gages, gage blocks, thread gages, pin gages, etc.).
  • Past experience and able to use (preferred) or willing to learn CMM (i.e. Brown and Sharp Global Advantage with PC-DMIS software) and portable CMM (i.e. FARO ARM – EDGE version) measuring equipment.
  • Proficient with geometry and trigonometry (machine shop math).
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to learn quickly, retain and apply knowledge.
  • Strong analysis and troubleshooting/problem solving skills.
  • Strong communication, organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be a self-starter, detail and results-oriented, energetic, and pro-active.
  • Flexible (tasks and work schedule) and adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Technical competency with High School/GED, or Associates degree and/or experience in a mechanical field involving knowledge in machining, sheet metal, welding, spotwelding, painting and powder coating, plating, assembly.
  • Willing to take training with CMP-AMS to be an AWS Certified Associate Welding Inspector (AWS-CAWI) would be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Performs in process inspections by confirming specifications (dimensional and cosmetic) are met on products being manufactured and on products ready for final inspection.
  • Conducts incoming inspection on raw material, sub-contracted finishing, and externally produced items as required.
  • Communicates required adjustments and rework requirements for non-compliant material to appropriate personnel (i.e. participates in MRB-Material Review Board meetings).
  • Documents inspection results on applicable reports (FAIR’s -First Article Inspection Report, inspection reports,) as required.
  • Performs process audits and product inspection using a range of inspection tools (Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gage, thread gages, pin gages, thickness tester, gloss meter, etc.) throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Assists with the calibration process and database updates of all inspection equipment (i.e. collecting, tagging, distributing, updating status, etc.).
  • Works with team members instituting corrective and preventative actions.
  • Provides support/training/communication to production personnel on quality issues.
  • Covers departments including sheet metal fabrication, machining, welding, metal blending, finishing (masking, painting, demasking), assembly, and final inspection.
