The Quality Inspector position involves testing and inspecting products at various stages of the production process. The inspector compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain the quality and reliability of products. This role is essential in ensuring that products meet the required standards before they reach the customer.

  • Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
  • Utilizes close-tolerance measuring equipment to inspect the quality of products and materials (e.g. micrometers, calipers, and coordinate measuring machine).
  • Measures component parts, assembly parts, and fixtures to predetermined requirements.
  • Assists in implementing, maintaining, and modifying quality control procedures.
  • Selects products for tests at specified stages in the production process and tests products for a variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical, electrical, or chemical characteristics.
  • Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures.
  • Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
  • Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of customer requirements and/or equipment capabilities.
  • Sets up and performs destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics.
  • Prepares graphs or charts of data or enters data into a computer for analysis.
  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
  • 0-1 years related experience and/or training.
